Care Information / Types of Care Home / Nursing Homes
Nursing Homes
Nursing homes provide all the facilities of a Residential Home and have a qualified nurse on duty 24 hours a day. It is your right to choose a nursing home but it must have the facilities to meet your needs. If you require nursing care then you will not be able to go into a Residential Home..

Many Nursing Homes will provide more specialist care for various conditions such as:

  • Dementia

Nursing homes will generally be more expensive than a Residential Home because of the services it provides but the NHS will make a contribution to nursing care fees.

Normally you would need to be 65 years or older to be accepted as a resident but please check with the home first as this is not universal.

Nursing homes provide:

  • Live-in on call nursing staff 24/7
  • meals and accommodation
  • help with personal care like bathing and dressing
