Summercare (Westcliff-on-Sea) is a small domiciliary care agency situated in the main geographical area it serves, and offers care to service users with learning disabilities who may or may not be elderly and who may have co-existing disabilities e.g. physical disability, sensory loss or mental health issues. Their services are contracted through Southend and Essex Borough Council Social Services Department, although they also can provide to private service users but at the present time do not. At this present time the company has an office also in Chelmsford but it is recommended that these be registered as separate operations.

Summercare’s head office is in Westcliff on Sea; with sufficient facilities and equipment to facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of service they offer. The office is accessible to disabled service users, as Summercare owns the whole building of which the ground floor is utilised as a day centre. The Responsible Individual is also the Registered Manager and has a good knowledge and sufficient experience in managing a domiciliary service. The Service User Guide and Statement of Purpose were available and service users and their representatives are provided with this information. Currently a flat fee of £12.25 per hour is charged and usually agreed by the funding authorities.
