St. Anne’s Community Services Sunderland is a domiciliary care service based on the Tedco Industrial Estate in Jarrow. This service supports 6 people with learning disabilities to live in their own homes with their own tenancies, in the Sunderland area. This includes various ages and a range of different needs, however it does not include children. The service covers all areas of Sunderland. The service is one of two domiciliary care services run by St.Anne’s Community Services, a second service that is registered and managed separately shares the same building and facilities, but supports people living in the South Shields area.

The two services initially shared an office but now have separate offices within the same building. The accommodation therefore for this service includes one office but there is access to other rooms including a kitchen and toilet. It is on one floor and is accessed by a security video entrance system. For security there is also an alarm system fitted for when the building is closed, during which time there are security guards on duty.

The office has adequate equipment for the efficient and effective management of the service and the environment meets the required health and safety requirements. The building is accessible to service users by public transport. There is a 24 hour call system for emergencies. The majority of the work is referred from social services whose commissioning departments monitor the service.

The service aims to inform prospective and current service users about the services provided and does this in a Service User Guide that is issued to all service users. The service has develop a Statement of Purpose and a Service User Guide that is in a format accessible to service users. These are comprehensive and inform service users and other interested parties about the service. Currently the registered manager is not aware of the full costs of the service delivered.
