The South Locality Intermediate Care Team is run by the Social and Community Services of Oxfordshire County Council and was first registered in November 2005. There are two other branches of the Intermediate Care Team based in Oxford and Banbury. The South Locality Intermediate Care Team consists of Community Health and Social and Community Services staff who integrated into joint working on 01.04.06. This inter-disciplinary team consists of occupational therapists and care co-ordinators and there is access to physiotherapy and carers in conjunction with the service users’ GPs and community nurses. The agency aims to enable their service users to either remain in their own homes or to be discharged home from hospital as soon as possible.

The South Locality branch is in an office block shared with other Social and Community Services in a business park on the outskirts of Abingdon. Whilst there is designated parking visitors may have to park at some distance from the agency offices. The South Locality Intermediate Care Team is registered as a large domiciliary care agency providing a rehabilitative personal care service to people living in their own homes. This branch has three sub offices located in Abingdon, Witney and Wantage.

The agency is registered with the CSCI to provide services to adults up to and over 65, but not to children, on a shortterm basis. Service users are mostly elderly and have been recently discharged from hospital. The registered manager has been in post since the agency was first registered. The office is open from 08.00 to 17.00 from Monday to Friday and outside of these hours the Social and Community Services Out of Hours Service and their Emergency Duty Team provide a 24-hour service.
