Magnolia House is a purpose built, luxurious 5 star home catering for 74 persons in 70 bedrooms, many with en suite facilities.

The home has been lovingly extended over the years to offer the very best of facilities and must surely be the finest home in the area.

After visiting today I found residents left to sit in their own urine for hours then when eventually changed, placed back in the chair where they had sat without it even being wiped down.Also people left in wheel chairs in the day room when they wanted to be in more comfotable seats.One diabetic gentleman left asleep in a corridoor chair unattended and no sign of any staff on that floor.The overpowering urine smell of the whole place was sickening.The obvious lack of staffing leads me to belive this place is run on greed,and no management in attendance to register a complaint.Most of the residents had compliants to make about the standard of food on one evening the evening meal seemed to be a bacon & tomato sandwhich served in a dry bread cake,the other complaints about the food is the fact it is usually cold before all are served.Residents also expressed concern over the lack of reponse to the cord call system in the rooms, one having been left unclothed in the bathroom for half an hour after falling,this could be due to the low staffing levels. residents also complained about not having had a bath for over a week.I have walked in unchallenged by staff on a number of occasions and without signing the visitor book due to there being no pen.I hope i've visited on a bad day,but more than once seems a little too often.If this is the level of care we afford to old people for the handsome amout they pay then DEATH must be a blessed relief .I have given a one star rating only as a compulsory field i would be hard pushed to justify any from my visit.
