Age Concern Northumberland is part of the Age Concern Federation which is a national body made up of over 400 organisation who all adhere to the same principles and quality standards. The organisation is inspected every three years to ensure that the high standards set by the federation are maintained across all services.

Age Concern Northumberland became a registered charity in 1975 and become company limited by guarantee in 1998. However the organisation has been in existence in various forms for over 50 years. It was originally known as Northumberland Old Peoples Voluntary Committee (NOPVC) before changing to its present name.

The organisation offers a wide range of services for older people within Northumberland which are delivered by over 300 staff and 550 volunteers. The organisation has a turnover of over £4 million per year.

Age Concern Northumberland is managed by a Chief Executive and senior management team who are responsible to a very committed Board of Trustees. The Trustee Board meet on a monthly basis and are supported by three sub committees which monitor progress in the following key areas Finance, Human Resources and Service Development.

The mission of the organisation is ‘to promote the well being of people over the age of 50 in and around the County of Northumberland , helping to make life enjoyable and fulfilling’.
