Age Concern is the UK 's largest organisation working for and with people over the age of 50 regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, religion or background. We are part of a federation of over 400 charities working together to promote the well-being of all older people.

We believe that ageing is a normal part of life, and that later life should be fulfilling, enjoyable and productive. We enable older people by providing services and grants, researching their needs and opinions, influencing government and media, and through other innovative and dynamic projects.

Age Concern's work ranges from providing vital local services to influencing public opinion and government. Every day we are in touch with many older people within Enfield - enabling them to make more of life. We currently have over 200 volunteers supporting our work borough wide.

Age Concern Enfield works in partnership with a range of voluntary and statutory organisations, to improve the quality of life of people aged 50+ and their carers in the London Borough of Enfield. Inaugurated in 1985, it is an independent charity as well as part of the national federation of Age Concern. The organisation has grown considerably since its inception.

It employs about 80 staff, works with well over 200 volunteers and is governed by an Executive Committee. Members of the Executive Committee are themselves volunteers and delegate the running of the organisation to the Chief Executive.

Funding comes from a number of different sources including the London Borough of Enfield and Enfield Primary Care NHS Trust. In addition, we raise funds ourselves, particularly from commission generated by the sale of insurance products. We constantly seek new funding to further develop our work with older people in the borough.

Our volunteers and staff are expected to treat all older people and anyone else involved with the organisation with respect and without discrimination in accordance with our equal opportunity principles. Further information on what this means is included in the volunteer induction training. - Send Email
